Polymer Inlay Class for square space.jpg

First create your own, unique textures for metal clay from black and white images using the tear away technique. You’ll use these textures in class and also take them home with you!

Then, using these textures, design and construct a beautiful two-sided PMC ring using techniques developed by Celie.  After firing and finishing the ring, you’ll use your freshly made tear away paper to ‘roll print’ an image onto multi-colored, collaged sheets of polymer clay.  Then you'll transform these with paint, pastel, oil crayon and colored pencil into brilliant miniature tapestries.  Finally, using rudimentary metalsmithing techniques including riveting, hammering, and patinas, you will size and set your polymer image in your PMC ring and, if time allows, also set into a PMC pendant.

The class cost is $550

The Material Fee is $115.

The material fee includes supplies and consumables, Translucent Liquid Sculpey, Premo, acrylic paint, pastels, colored pencil and oil crayon, 12 gauge sterling silver wire for the ring shank, Argentium, brass wire, copies (for tear-away), Celie's demo materials (PMC, polymer, metal), and finishing materials (wax, patina, etc.).  Also included are handouts and the use of a work surface, desk lamp, and many tools and supplies.

Sterling chain and accent beads for the pendant will be available to purchase (or you may bring your own).

I suggest you budget 2-3, 25 gm packages, at least, of PMC OneFire Sterling.  Some people will use less, some more.

Basic supplies will be available to purchase individually during the class.

A list of local lodging choices will be sent upon registration

A supply list will be sent in April.

This class will be capped at 9 people.

TO REGISTER:  E-mail me first to make sure there is a spot in the class. (If you've already emailed me, your spot is secure.) Then send a check for $665 by April 1st.  This is non-refundable, unless a replacement can be found, in which case your refund would be the tuition minus a $50 registration fee. Please e-mail me if you would like to split the tuition into two payments.
