4 Day Class
This class is suitable for all levels of experience but experience with metal clay is helpful.
Start by etching on polymer (tear away technique) to make your own texturing tools for PMC.
We’ll be working with two types of PMC: The original PMC Sterling will allow us to fire diamonds in place; as this clay needs a carbon firing and the carbon protects the diamonds. The new alloy, OneFire 960 Sterling PMC (please see my blog for details) offers many of the advantages of PMC Sterling (stronger than fine silver, longer open working time, and more) without having to fire it in carbon.
You’ll learn the basics of working with these two types of PMC Sterling while exploring many different ring designs: seamless rings, overlapping, washer style rings, pierced “openwork’ rings, carved & whittled rings and rings with diamonds fired in place. Other jewelry appropriate for Sterling PMC will be discussed including hinges and lightweight hollow forms.
Firing will be thoroughly demonstrated.
The class cost is $495.
The Material Fee is $115.
The material fee includes supplies and consumables, several packages of polymer clay, Teflon, brass and copper wire and sheet, sterling wire, copies (for tear away), Celie's demo materials (PMC, polymer, precious metals), finishing materials, including sand papers for PMC and polymer, patina supplies, studio rent, studio prep, administrative costs, and handouts. Also included are many tools and supplies for you to use including a glass work surface, glass palettes, and a desk lamp.
I suggest you budget approximately 50 – 100 grams of OneFire and additional Sterling Metal Clay (25 – 50 grams) because we’ll be working in both OneFire and Sterling.
Small best quality diamonds will be available to purchase during class.
Basic supplies will be available to purchase individually during the class.

A supply list will be sent in the beginning of May.
The class will be capped at 9 people.
TO REGISTER: E-mail me first to make sure there is a spot in the class. (If you've already emailed me, your spot is secure.) Then send a check for $610 by April 1st. After May 1st this is non-refundable, unless a replacement can be found, in which case your refund would be the tuition minus a $50 registration fee.
